Induction & Ongoing Training

In addition to formal qualifications, all staff at Independent Ability Care undergo an extensive induction program before commencing work with participants. This includes:
  • Orientation to the NDIS Practice Standards & Code of Conduct
  • Policies and procedures
  • Person-centred and rights-based approaches
  • Cultural responsiveness and communication training
  • Emergency response and risk management
  • Shadow shifts with experienced staff

Support Workers

Our Support Workers are qualified, skilled, and trained to provide safe and person-centred support. Their qualifications include:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability, Aged Care, or Community)
  • Certificate IV in Disability
  • Certificate III or IV in Community Services
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health (where relevant)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory for all workers)
  • Manual Handling and Medication Assistance training
  • Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training (where required)
  • Infection Control training

Service Delivery Coordinators

Our Service Delivery Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that supports are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with NDIS Practice Standards. They act as the link between participants, families, staff, and management. Their qualifications and training include:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Disability, or Mental Health
  • Diploma of Leadership and Management (often desirable for team coordination)
  • Certificate IV in Disability or Certificate IV in Community Services
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory for all NDIS workers)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Manual Handling and Medication Assistance training (where applicable)
  • Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training
  • Incident Management and Risk Assessment training
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check

Support Coordinators

Our Support Coordinators bring strong professional and academic backgrounds in disability and community services. Their qualifications include:
  • Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)
  • Diploma of Disability or Certificate IV in Disability
  • Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services
  • Certificate IV in Community Services
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory for all NDIS workers)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
They also bring experience in case management, service navigation, and advocacy, with strong knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and the broader community support system.

Nurses (Registered & Enrolled)

Our nursing staff bring professional healthcare expertise alongside specialised disability knowledge. Their qualifications include:
  • Bachelor of Nursing (Registered Nurse – RN)
  • Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse – EN)
  • Current AHPRA Registration (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
  • Medication Administration & Management training
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory for all NDIS workers)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Manual Handling and Infection Control training
  • Specialist training relevant to participant needs
